The only way to reach a harmonious existence is by making a piece of art from our whole life. People are looking more and more to improve the quality of their personal life and increase self-regulation on every domain. Instigating confusion became too easy and is unnecessary but clarifying is difficult and necessary. The real serious problems are not caused by missing information, but by the fact that we don’t develop anymore enough awareness for what’s meaningful and has signification. For such awareness we need a history that explains the present and delivers orientation for the future.

Civilization is revving itself into a pathologically short attention span. The trend might be coming from the acceleration of technology, the short-horizon perspective of market-driven economics, the next-election perspective of democracies, or the distractions of personal multi-tasking. All are on the increase. Some sort of balancing corrective to the shortsightedness is needed – some mechanism or myth which encourages the long view and the taking of long-term responsibility, where ‘long-term’ is measured at least in centuries.

People, paralyzed by the subjectivity and relativism of the actual age must be shown how to discover that the reality happens to us with a message or meaning, that can only discovered by those receptive for it. New technologies and media can become the motor of an ecological future with flexible, small scaled structures and networks that are generating by themselves a post-materialistic culture. Next to product minded thinking there arises process minded thinking. Holism is integrating itself in all structures of knowledge; everything is recognized and approached as a whole.

In the first book of the Maharajagar, I gave an example how the Long Now condensates into the sub-conscientious attitude of a nation. Through a resume of American literary history I illustrated how the values of the Native American Tribes got assimilated into the mainstream American thinking and caused the initial neutral stance of the United States during the first years of World War 1.(The American Dilemma)

By extension, those values are still the driving force behind all conscious environmental  thinking and most racial -and gender emancipation issues.
