What if a book could be read in two languages at once—one made of images, the other of words?
The Chimeric Protocols of Transmutation / The Book of Split Ink is an experiment in the space between visual art and literature. One part of the book is composed of symbolic plates made with the Chimeric Glyphic System (CGS). The other follows a narrative in which that symbolic world begins to discover consciousness, memory and embodiment.
These are not illustrations accompanied by captions. The plates propose relationships and transformations; the story gives those relationships another life. Looking and reading become connected acts.

The work unfolds toward Barcelona, a city whose layered histories and architectures become part of the book’s symbolic field. It is also part of a larger investigation taking place at the Laboratory of St. Vincent: can art become an active process of transformation rather than simply a representation of it?
Over the coming weeks, I will share some of the book’s structures, characters and images, alongside the ideas that gave rise to it.
