desire_virus-kate_1024x1024The Desire-virus catches on by visuality. Smaller than a bacteria and only able to reproduce in a living cell, the virus is a simple structure. Even so, I believe that humanity would be way less privileged if it didn’t exist. As we can thank the virus for being able to fall in love, the fact that our desire can live in harmony with nature and that we try again and again to become better people. Properly speaking, we can thank it for the illusion, that there is a reason to wake up tomorrow. (E n i k o O r o s z * ENIKEOROS – audio visual artist & designer, https://firsthingandnoel.com/products/desirevirus)

The economic order needs a more pluralistic image of humankind than that of the supple, flexible, will-less consumer. For a lot of people, consumption is an important source of life fulfillment. Because pleasure-loving is an important medicine against emptiness and people need to relax themselves to fend themselves from desperation. Given the restless inventively of the Western society, is the repression of traditional societies probably unavoidable. For those who have already everything is there no alternative than to increase their desire. When the external reality is only experienced as something that asks for continue adaptation of the subjectivity and not as a source of satisfaction, the individuality disappears and life becomes without purpose.

The actual generation must be freed of the obligation to enjoy and to rediscover desire. Desire is the foundation of all culture. When you cannot put a limit upon your desires; you not only put at risk your health but also your personal identity.
