One consciousness cannot see everything.
In The Book of Split Ink, Gala and Salvador arise from the symbolic structures of the Chimeric Protocols themselves. Gala is associated with the lucid blue intelligence of structure, measure and architecture. Salvador carries a crimson world of ink, memory, root, wound and transformation in process.
They are not two observers entering a ready-made fantasy landscape. Within the fiction, they are born from the system they must learn to inhabit. Their differences are necessary, but they are also sources of tension.
A structure can organise experience without fully feeling it. Memory can give experience depth while resisting containment. The book follows what happens when these modes of perception are forced to meet, negotiate and change.
Their journey is also a way of asking a question about art: must form and living experience remain separate, or can the friction between them create another possibility?
Gala and Salvador are the narrative voices of that experiment. Their relationship is not an answer supplied in advance; it is something the book has to discover.
